Lieutenant General, Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) Retired
Toshimichi Nagaiwa, a retired Lt. General, is currently a Representative of Nagaiwa Associate. He is also a Senior Advisor for CISCO Systems G.K.. Lt. Gen. Nagaiwa was previously an Advisor for Machinery & Aerospace Division, Sojitz Corporation and a Senior Guest Fellow for Sojitz Research Institute since 2006 to 2015. With his deep experience in situation judgment, defense build-up and operation command during his more than thirty-five years of service in the JASDF, he advises Sojitz Corporation on its growth strategy and risk management so as to heighten its corporate value. He was also for a visiting research fellow to Asia Center, Harvard University since May 2007 to May 2009.
Prior to assuming his position at Sojitz Corporation, he was a Commander of Air Support Command, JASDF.
At present, he is an Advisor for Japan America Air Force Goodwill Association. He is also a Research Fellow for Japan Association for International Security (JAIS), Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS), and Japan Forum for Strategic Studies (JFSS). He is also an Executive Director for All Japan Defense Association. General (Ret.) received his commission upon graduation from the National Defense Academy, Japan, in 1971 and served as an instructor pilot early in his career. As a commanding pilot, General (Ret.) Nagaiwa has more than 3,800 flying hours, principally in fighter aircraft including F-4EJ and F-15J.
