Proudly Presenting: TechNet Far East 2017
AFCEA Tokyo (東京) is honored to announce our next annual conference, TechNet Far East 2017 – to be held at The New Sanno Hotel on Tuesday March 7 through Thursday March 9. We are pleased to have selected “Cooperation” as our theme to support, in part, the multi-stakeholder approach to cyber, communications, and security for the region, and the upcoming Tokyo Olympics in 2020. We also thought this theme was appropriate as we transition from a small Tokyo-based event to a more unified Far East vision for this TechNet event. The connotations behind “cooperation” as our theme are extremely important to us who care very deeply about the security in the Far East region. Without cooperation, security, communications, and interoperability would be almost non-existent, or exceedingly difficult to achieve.
Since AFCEA is an organization with its roots in the Armed Forces, being a chapter operating overseas is an obvious demonstration of the cooperation needed between the US military in Japan and the local Japanese Self-Defense forces. Every day the two teams must work together as a single team to ensure the safety of Japan, train each other on better ways to accomplish mission requirements, and enjoy time with each other.
Additionally, both the US and Japanese armed forces rely on cooperation with industry to ensure each are leveraging the latest cyber security and information technology capabilities. Computing moves at speeds greater than any other industry in history, and requires cooperation between so many diverse technologies, vendors, and agencies to ensure the right systems are implemented to offer resilient services and to protect critical assets.
Finally, to unify the region into a major event held in Tokyo requires a myriad of cooperation among people in different countries, with different customers, and likely very different goals. We will be leveraging an untold amount of cooperation to pull off this event and turn it into our most successful TechNet ever.
